To be clear, most of these tax credits are already, by law, unavailable to undocumented immigrants. So this is a, likely illegal, tax increase on immigrants who are here with permission from the government to work and live.

This would be absurd to administer, public benefit agencies spend significant resources evaluating immigrants status and seeing if they are eligible for benefits like Medicaid and SNAP. The IRS is not set up to do this, nor is the tax filing system

Congress has denied tax credits to people who don't have social security numbers, but never excludes work authorized people from important credits like the EITC and CTC.

The only exception came this year, when they excluded many from ACA tax credits. But that is the exception that makes the rule.
