Does this mean more Brits are leaving the UK now than before the pandemic?

In short, we don't know. That's because British migration estimates using the new method only go back to 2021, and aren't comparable with pre-pandemic estimates based on the old method.

I'm going to do what I should've done a while ago and ask HMRC why there's a big difference. Will report back if they have a useful answer.

I suspect it's this though, as they classify sector by what the organisation does, not the individual.

The partners of Skilled Workers had higher median earnings, at £30,200, in the year ending March 2024. That's around median earnings for all employees.

Many partners of health and care workers were also working in the sector.

Overall, their median earnings were £22,100 in the year ending March 2024.

I think it does, because 1) you might not sway everyone at the end when you need to, and 2) new traitors upset the dynamic and might lead them to turn on each other
