I am standing to be Deputy Leader because I believe this Labour Government urgently needs to go back to the guiding values of our party and movement, and deliver an ambitious programme of popular, progressive policies.
This morning, elected representatives from across our borough laid wreaths at Lambeth Town Hall and Brixton's African and Caribbean War Memorial to remember all those from Lambeth and around the world who fought and died in both World Wars.

We will remember them all #RemembranceSunday

It was an honour to join Remembrance Sunday commemorations in Bridgetown, Barbados today.

Millions from across the Commonwealth fought and died in both World Wars.

We will remember them all.

Today, as we remember lives lost to war, we must keep speaking out against the horrors unfolding in Sudan, Gaza, Congo, Ukraine and everywhere conflict continues.

True remembrance requires us to speak up for peace and insist that every human life is of equal value.

Great visit to Iqra Primary with London Deputy Mayor Joanne McCartney to see universal free school meals in action and tour their new state-of the art kitchen.

When children eat well, they learn well.

Let's extend this scheme nationwide and invest in every child's future.

Ahead of this year's Remembrance Day commemorations, I planted a stake in Parliament's Gardens of Remembrance, recognising those from Clapham & Brixton Hill who lost their lives.

This weekend, we will remember all those killed, including the 133 men listed on Clapham Common War Memorial.

Some people get brunch on a Saturday morning.

Last weekend, our Clapham Town Labour team was out picking up litter in Clapham Common and knocking on doors.

Great to be out with them to clean up the Common and speak with local residents #LabourDoorstep

Congratulations to @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social on his historic election as Mayor of New York 🗽

An inspiring campaign rooted in people's real economic needs, which should be a blueprint for socialists and progressives around the world.

I was honoured to deliver this year’s @nujofficial.bsky.social's Claudia Jones Lecture at the Guardian.

As we face the rising threat of the far right, we must remember her insights into the nature of racism and emulate her inspiring efforts to organise against it.

I was honoured to speak at Southwark Council's Black History Month event recently, where I spoke about the difference between diversity and representation.

Standing firm in power and pride means speaking up on issues that impact minoritised communities - this month and every month.

The damage wrought on Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba by Hurricane Melissa is severe.

These countries did little to cause climate breakdown, yet are left facing its worst impacts.

My thoughts and prayers are with their people as relief, recovery and rebuilding efforts begin.

Haiti death toll reaches 30, and 19 in Jamaica, as Bermuda weathers tropical storm conditions on Thursday night

As the UK reconfigures global partnerships post-Brexit, Africa’s importance is only increasing.

It was great to join distinguished speakers at Africa Week UK earlier this month to explore how we can strengthen our trade, investment and cultural ties across the continent.

I recently joined The Black Men's Consortium for their performance of ‘Umbilical: Born Black, Borne Silent’.

A powerful exploration of stark inequalities in maternity care and the under-explored impact this can have on their partners.

Great work from all involved #BlackHistoryMonth

Britain has shipped £284m+ of armaments to the UAE since 2021.

There is mounting evidence that British weapons shipped to the UAE are being diverted to these militias in Sudan.

Our government should stop these arms exports without further delay.

Fantastic to visit Brixton Blood Donation Centre to celebrate NHS Blood & Transplant's new partnership with the Jamaican High Commission, London.

They are urging the UK's Jamaican community to give blood, which is urgently needed to treat Sickle Cell, the UK's fastest growing genetic condition.

Horrified to hear that a woman was fatally stabbed on Monday evening at a residential property in Tulse Hill.

A man was arrested at the site on suspicion of murder, grievous bodily harm, and threats to kill.

There will be an increased police presence over the coming days.

Horrific reports of RSF militia massacring hundreds of civilians in El Fasher, Sudan.

It is an open secret that the RSF is being financed and armed by the UAE.

Why on earth has our government continued to allow arms sales to the UAE during this conflict?

The Renters' Rights Act entered into law this week.

This legislation will deliver major improvements for renters, including the end of no fault evictions.

The government must enact it ASAP.

Our next steps must focus on affordability and limiting rent increases.

Racism didn’t appear by accident. It was engineered.

It is not just about words or attitudes, but material conditions: who owns wealth, who holds power, who has access to housing, healthcare, safety and dignity.

To truly tackle racism, we need reparations.
October 28, 2025 at 11:57 AM
The call for reparations has survived centuries because it speaks to something beyond politics.

It speaks to the human need for recognition, justice and dignity, and to the possibility of renewal.

Not just for the nations that were wronged, but for Britain itself.

My speech:
Black History Month 2025 Debate (23rd October 2025)
In this year’s Black History Month debate, I set out the case for reparatory justice. Racism didn’t appear by accident. It was engineered. It is not just a question of words and attitudes, but…

Helping people in Clapham & Brixton Hill with casework issues is one of the most important things I do as an MP.

I’m looking to hire a constituency support worker who is passionate about supporting people, not just looking for a job in politics.
