Happy head direction cell day y’all!

On this day, 41 years ago, Jim Ranck recorded the first “HD cell” in his Brooklyn lab in 1984.

Jim shared the news with the world at SFN that year, showing a video of the cell’s firing on a TV he somehow acquired and brought to his poster… (1/3)

We're hiring! 🧠 We're looking for a postdoc to perform neuropixels recordings in mouse models of neurological disorders as part of a larger team that's testing out novel gene therapies here at UCL. Super exciting project, come join the team! tinyurl.com/2ykfy2um

Hi all!

I've finally made the trek over to BlueSky. The #neuroskyence community is already thriving and I'm looking forward to being a part of it!

I'm a postdoc in epilepsy at UCL, and in my past lives worked in spatial navigation/head direction cells in rats and studied medicine.
