Honestly, small games contain more soul. Some great titles are just quick 1hr romps. Just like smaller film and tv studios. But most only want the bigguns, cause it's all they see, know, or carefor. Realism is overcooked, give me stylised things that bear deep

Honestly it's just writing every little detail, top overviews first and nitty gritties, diagrams, etc, later on. They tend to be pretty long docs, hyperlinks in a contents table help. Go as in depth as possible, then review the top, and reverse again
