In 2015, I joined Latina & Asian aunties, many of whom were domestic workers, in the 100 Women, 100 Miles for immigration reform. They started at a detention center & walked to D.C. — where the aunties greeted Pope Francis. He saw their humanity, an act that provoked hope in the throes of despair. 💔

My parents are refugees who fled from Vietnam. Catholic Relief Services, funded by USAID, helped them rebuild their lives. Fr. John Cain's support enabled my dad to graduate from college. My parents raised 5 American daughters, all of whom honor our country by giving back to the least among us.

Sadly, the federal funding freeze is still in place. The WH press secretary issued a statement to clarify this is only a rescission of the OMB memo.

Rest in peace, President Jimmy Carter ❤️

Jimmy Carter's courage & strength changed the lives of countless people, here & abroad. He withstood the scrutiny of the American public & codified the Refugee Act of 1980, a decision that saved (and continues to) those fleeing persecution & death. I'm forever indebted.

Vietnamese American Thanksgiving tradition! We do Cornish hens instead of turkey, something my mom started decades ago!

I spent the morning with a fisherman in Coastal Georgia. He took us out to the marsh on his airboat & shucked us fresh oysters from his oyster mound. We talked about climate change, H2A visas, conservation, clam recipes + how to extract the most joy from life. I didn't know how much I needed that. 🦪
