Yep, streaming in 10 minutes or so!

I don't want to say more than that for fear of spoilers--but I hope you'll give Asphalt Arcanum a try! I'll be streaming a reading of each chapter since I love the idea of story time for adults and audiobooks in general--and I feel like most people could use something fun to do on Tuesday nights!

The book switches perspective for each chapter, and first up is Cherie, who's in the process of trying to leave her abusive husband. She's been on her guard for a long time, and she has good instincts but has gotten used to doubting them. Chapter 1 is just the start of her long journey.

and suddenly being on the run from shadowy monsters that you can strike down with an ability you don't understand won't change that.

Honestly, I love sticking the magical and the mundane right next to each other--sometimes because it's realistic, sometimes because it's funny...

The main thing I wanted to do was create characters whose lives were full, rich, and complicated BEFORE anything magical ever happened to them. The characters of Asphalt Arcanum have families, friends, romantic relationships, and caretaking responsibilities, w/all the joy and stress that implies--

I wanted to give a bit more background on the book, since so far I've basically said "I'm doing a thing, here it is!"

Asphalt Arcanum is a story about a bunch of regular people who gain supernatural powers. I wanted to give that classic setup my own spin!
