Aging academic watching the world burn from my ivory tower (while it still stands). Interests/obsessions include news/politics, fantasy/sci-fi books, purple (the color), The National (the band), EDM/dubstep, the moon, and vampires. Especially vampires.
It’s not illegal. It should be, but it’s not…that’s why Elizabeth Warren is calling for it to be made illegal. They are required to report any trades over $1000, but enforcement is very lax and no one’s ever held accountable

I completely agree. The current Supreme Court is a BIG part of the problem.

I doubt our forefathers ever dreamed that we’d have a president like Trump!!
November 26, 2025 at 3:16 PM
I don’t think he should be allowed to sell gold watches & “Trump coins”and all of the other stuff he personally profits from while he’s president. And he certainly shouldn’t profit from the Secret Service, etc. staying at his hotels & properties. But that’s what appears to be happening.

THIS is a very interesting question. It certainly seems to me like much of his presidency is one giant grift. But I don’t trust the current Supreme Court to agree with me on that.

There are so many legal challenges to his decisions moving through the courts right now. It will be interesting to see where the line is drawn between what he can and cannot officially do. But I don’t know if he can be held accountable for any of it.

Or just shooting boats out of the water off the coast of Florida, and claiming they are terrorists with no evidence

I’m also thinking of all of the things he’s doing to line his own pockets. He’s using the power of the presidency to increase his wealth.

*Bin Laden…stupid autocorrect
November 26, 2025 at 2:25 PM
(I know he didn’t have Ben Laden assassinated. I’m just using that as an example.)
November 26, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Depends on if he can justify it as an “official act” . Assassinatiing Bin Laden is one thing. Assassinating someone in his admin certainly seems outside the scope of core constitutional power. Sending troops into American cities to “quell (nonexistent) insurrections” is more what I was thinking of.

I’m sadly(angrily) quite sure you are 100% correct 😢😡

I guess we will find out! 🤪

Yes—he can pardon them all pre-emptively. But isn’t that like admitting guilt? Plus it doesn’t benefit HIM. If they get strung up once he’s done, will he even care?

I love her

But I myself would not rely on the good graces of a dementia addled narcissist
November 25, 2025 at 11:39 PM
I fear his underlings either assume he will somehow continue to be President (they’ve made reference to a 3rd (unconstitutional) term)…are so “lost in the sauce” that they aren’t stopping to consider the “what ifs”…or more likely, are assuming they’ll get a pardon.

His lack of understanding of the word “asylum” has been obvious for years!
