I suppose the alternative is that we could use brick slips in the opening and then tiles around the edges and the heart. Will try my best at the weekend to mock it up on photoshop to see how it feels

So now on the hunt for tiles.
The mission with this really is to make it look like it could have always been there and that the rest of the room has been updated but sympathetically.
There are quite a lot of art-deco style tiles out there now but not quite what I'm after.
