Real sharp contrast between the best and worst Precons from that block. Goblin Mob and Ivory Doom: excellent, two of the better theme decks released from any block. But on the flip side you have Max Attax and Morph Mayhem.

Agreed. Obviously Rancor is the outlier and you’re absolutely forced to respect that card, but most the others are fairly respectable too. I’m kinda glad none of the others are at that same power level, as that would have been pretty oppressive in our “back of the school library at lunchtime” meta.

I played the shit out of this card back in the day. I really dug Slow Motion too for that matter.

The 8ED frame is almost retro itself at this point. I wonder if we’ll get a secret lair at some point which reprints some newer Mirrodin or Kamigawa stuff that makes it look like they could have come out in 2004 or 2005.

Also I present this as evidence to WoTC of the importance of having cheap fixing and staple effects available in special frame treatments too. Not just a handful of flashy rares. Fortunately Evolving Wilds is a decent enough substitute here for Rugged Highlands. Racers’ Ring I’m undecided about.
