The cartoon depicts a figure labeled "America First" joined by a single, continuous beard to a figure wearing a Nazi swastika. It suggests that the "America First" isolationists were inextricably linked with Nazi ideology, despite their claims of being unrelated. The text below the image describes them as "The Lads with the Siamese Beard! Unrelated by blood, they are joined in a manner that mystifies the mightiest minds in the land!". The "America First" committee advocated for an "impregnable defense for America" and argued that American democracy could only be preserved by staying out of the European war.
