CCYC provides opportunities for youth & young adults to participate in service projects on public lands in Southeastern Utah in partnership with regional land-managing agencies. The CCYC Crew Leader is an AmeriCorps position that leads a crew of 3-4 Crew Members on conservation projects around Utah.

Within BEP, much of this work is led by Policy Director Carleton Bowekaty (Zuni Pueblo). His position works closely with our generous funders at New Pluralists, to ensure all stakeholders in these protection efforts have a seat at the table.

We have been working for more than a decade to support the Tribal efforts to protect these areas. In particular, our team leads efforts on the “Lands Between,” a temporary name for an archaeologically rich – yet unprotected – area between Bears Ears and Canyon of the Ancients National Monuments.

All experience levels welcome. We will provide several telescopes for you to use, and you are welcome to bring your own. BEP staff will share stargazing tips and point out celestial features. Bring a red light and a chair for sitting. See you there!
