Motion 6 a Trans and Non-Binary rights: Supreme Court ruling leads to dehumanisation of a group of people and we should not expect our trade union to accept such a ruling. We condemn any legal decisions regarding this. STUC needs to strengthen their strategy around this issue. #Stuclgbt25

Challenging far right misinformation, TIE created a brilliant tool for online hate STUC can reference this moving forward. At the moment resource provides teachers and educators to counter the effects of online hate and core digital media and literacy skills and learners need these tools #stuclgbt25

NASUWT - young people consume 30 second sound bites of hate, kids are starting to use the language of hate. Gvt has allowed a hostile environment to flourish. We are still some way away from including LGBT+ education in our classrooms in the curriculum. We need to act.

Kaukab Stewart MSP addresses conference - The value of your work in pursuing equality cannot be understated together at a time when so much division and different communities are being pitted against one another we have to try and resist that and not let that divide us. #stuclgbt25

Peter Matthews researched LGBT+ social security benefits in the UK giving insight into what that experience is like for LGBT+ people.

Social security benefit is a human right and can be a matter of life and death and failure to support LGBT+ people can lead to risk of harm and suicide. #stuclgbt25

Over the last 2 decades legal rights for LGBT+ people have changed beyond recognition. LGBT+ parents continue to face barriers at work to accessing the rights they are entitled to. Facing negative comments, disbelief and intrusive question.
Time to put an end to this discrimination #stuclgbt25

Fantastic to be back here at #stuclgbt25 conference amongst my comrade. Looking at the agenda alongside the general news cycle in this country and around the world, it is important now more than ever to be in a union and stand in solidarity with our comrades, especially us in the LGBTQI+ community.

USDAW Rep - there are over 200,000 LGBT people are living in Scotland and make up 4.5% of the population.

Many don't feel comfortable being out with family and friends and in the workplace.

Mourning the loss of a dear friend.

Christina lit up a room and made you feel special and I will never forget her warmth and especially her kindness and generosity of spirit.

A true friend and inspiration to those she made contact with, she will be sorely missed.
