For anyone who is writing about this now, talk to those that have experiences nuclear testing. Talk to impacted American communities in Nevada, New Mexico, or communities where the US tested on other lands, like Marshall Islands or in Kazakhstan where Soviet tested.

Nuclear testing is literally detonating nuclear weapons on your own people and land. It is incredibly stupid and there’s a reason why nuclear testing was banned globally in the 1990s.

This would have real, devastating impact for Americans. It will harm, kill and poison people. It has been estimated that past US nuclear testing killed as many Americans as its bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki did. web.archive.org/web/20250107...

This isn’t geopolitics. Our focus shouldn’t be on how Russia and China would react or how balance of power and all that theoretical stuff will be dealt with. Our focus need to be on what this actually means in reality, in the real world!

Nuclear weapons are really just a radioactive teddy bear for leaders to cuddle when things feel scary.

Nuclear deterrence is inherently illogical. And any country is going to be worse off after using nuclear weapons than before and therefore it doesn’t make sense to use them and our opponents know this and therefore they don’t really deter that much and are pretty much obsolete and just symbolic.

Right now, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Finland are in the process of withdrawing from the Mine Ban Treaty. These withdrawals mean more tragedies will inevitably follow. Landmines don’t protect. They kill your own civilians, and they mainly kill children.

He was just living a normal life, long long after a war. And this isn’t an isolated tragedy, this happens over and over again around the world where landmines have been used. Every time landmines are used, civilians will pay the price for decades ahead. People not even born yet.

We’re looking to fund short-term projects that can help reduce reliance on and support for nuclear deterrence policies. Grants are between 10-35k CHF and we aim to support new writing, impactful meetings, captivating content creation, etc. No long applications or complicated reporting!!

(Obviously, football today is absolutely a capitalistic entertainment product & it’s getting worse & worse by the year but that’s why complaining that serie a, that is at least a bit less “product” than premier league is not catering enough to random Americans is so provoking)

I’ve said it as a joke before but now I’m 100% serious, Americans should stop appropriating our culture and leave football alone

SERIE A IS NOT FOR YOU! It’s for italian cities and their people. Not for random Americans picking a team for fun. Football is not an entertainment product, it’s a culture. Of course you can be a fan anyway, but these clubs are not made for you. Enjoy it but you’re not the center
