Not sure what everyone at the meetup is expecting, but I try for 1/3rd posed pictures of people, 1/3rd candid pictures of people, 1/3rd pictures of ambiance/environment

That way you keep the focus on people (2/3rds) but capture the whole experience so it paints a complete picture when looking back
