Pinned
Time to update my pin:

My complete high school, emo, undead, action book series ends with "Gravedust." If you're into big feelings, mortality, Buffy/Supernatural, and almost certainly My Chemical Romance, this series is my big sloppy love letter to each.

Grab the whole series now, link in the bio
It's year's end, time to show off and recommend some of the books I've read this year! Did I meet my goal? Absolutely not.

I guested on the latest Nothing New podcast, talking the 1987 and 2025 Running Man movies, alongside the book! Had a blast with Justin and Andrew.

Snag the episode and the show from your nearest podcatcher.

I'm just gonna say it: half the reason I play video games is to dress up my little man/woman in a way I feel fits the character, the story, and the current mood of the moment.

It felt good to get off my chest, thank you for listening.

Really cool blog post from Offbeat YA recommending underrated and under-read books!

And it's not just cool because my books are there (though that is cool). Add a bunch more books from other authors you may not have heard of to your list!

Every internet argument:

1: "Opinion."
2: "My argument with something tangential to your opinion (which I didn't really read or process)"
1: "My counter-argument with the version of you I made up in my head."
2: "Insult."
1: "Insult."

And scene. You are now free to never argue online ever again

Any other writers take a note or a bit of writing advice they received too far?

My distaste for infodumps in stories has me often not providing enough information and having to fix it with beta readers.

Anyone else overcorrect?

"Welcome to Derry" episode 3 once again asks the question: "what if something scary ran at you and went 'GRAAAH.'"

Can we NOT replace NaNoWriMo with another writing thing in November?

Between holiday prep, fam and friend events, jobs going into overdrive before shutting down in Dec, it's an awful month to commit to writing 50k words unless you have a live-in butler.

Can we move it to January or February?

My little story was in the winner's circle! Bronze still counts, haha. Excited to be a part of this contest with so many talented writers.

Monster Mash is great, but it represents fully 33.33% of Halloween party music.

Recording artists, bands, song writers: can we please make more Halloween songs. Your country—nay, the world—needs you.

What I meant to say: "I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached."

What I actually said: "My head would fall off if it wasn't attached."

Yeah, Bobby, that's true of most heads.

This is one of my strongest takes. I think binge-watching had a massive detrimental effect on the form and the conversation. If I had my druthers it would go away.

ALIEN: EARTH and Cliffhangers, Revisited
ALIEN: EARTH is a good show with fantastic actors and solid storytelling: it didn’t need a cliffhanger to keep people interested.

So we all agree David Bowie was holding up the Honmoon in the West, right? I think that's the only explanation for (gestures to everything)

I don't know who needs to hear this but in #JumpSpace you can cable onto enemy fighters and destroy them while riding them and it's the coolest thing ever.

Attn TV Execs: The best way to lure an audience back next season is to prove you can tell an excellent story with a season of your show. And stories have ends.

Sequel hooks or jumping off points are fine, but the main plot of *this* season should conclude. ESPECIALLY with years between seasons.

I have trouble with "which character that everyone likes do you dislike?!" conversations.

A character being unlikable isn't a problem for me. A character being *boring* is. I'm not looking for a new friend group, I'm trying to read about the fucked up nature of being a human.
