SteamOS is focused on handheld right now, but in general, I would say that SteamOS' real advantage is in being a slow, stable OS (as in it doesn't need updates often) that is focused on Gaming.

Though, I would have tolerated both if it was open sourced. I tolerate a lot if something is FOSS.

And I'd imagine Adobe would be the main pusher for it, given it is the most cost effective way of combating piracy and supporting all OS.
