The ocean’s underwater world is an ambient symphony of sound. Whales, dolphins and other species rely on sound to hunt for prey, communicate and as a navigation aid during migrations.

We are exploring the soundscape in our local waters to study human impacts on this delicate ecosystem.

Another successful mission at the Golden Gate to pull acoustic samples, conduct wildlife surveys and visual observations.

Thanks to our friends at the @sfestuaryinstitute.bsky.social for offering an EXO2 sensor to test the waters for salinity, temperature and dissolved oxygen.

Wrapping up another successful field day of acoustic sampling and wildlife surveys.

Most of the mission was spent monitoring and reporting a severely entangled whale to the NOAA Fisheries Response Team. Happy news as the whale was rescued and freed within 24 hours!

This is why we do what we do!
