Cats, early American history, reading esp science fiction, fantasy, HEA and paranormal romances, old movies. Music.
Treasured memories include meeting Octavia Butler and Poul Anderson and coming within a whisker of owning an original Whelan.
Who knew they made so many Bomba pictures! Two left to go.

Intermission watching between the Olympics figure skating and the other sports happening tomorro.

Olympics = time shifting. I’m on the west coast. Lots of naps for the next week.

Looking forward to the team event.

US has a great team; will it be enough to share the podium with the Japanese?

And what does Ilia have up his sleeve?

Can I just say how much I despise the advertising embedded in the ice. I wonder how distracting it is for the skaters.

The US will be fielding a strong team at the Olympics.

And the NBC/Peacock coverage is terrible. So distracting between constant commercials and continuous commmentary

Something to smile at. The little guy is a muntjac (I think) and he‘s serious about defending his mate who is in season.

OD’d on Marx Bros movies, and then Thin Man movies. Now am watching USFS Championships

In between I’ve been following the news. I think I prefer my brain numbed trying to follow the third Marx Bros film in a row.

2026 is getting off to a great start!

One life eclipses another; Smilodon takes down a whitetail deer. Inspired by petroglyphs, cave art, and ancient Scythian art. It's weird to think that the whitetail deer survived the ice age and made it to the present but many of its predators did not. #art #smilodon #paleontology #rockart #deer

Ilia was inspired. I can’t believe how vertical he gets on the jumps. And 7 quads. I think Nathan only managed 5(?} and we were all squeeing in happiness.

The US women did good. So proud of Amber and happy for Kaori to medal.

Japanese figure skating fans are the best!!

Even tho I knew the results in advance (thank RockerSkating), it is exhausting watching these skates.

Did anyone else find Daniel’s skate and music a little boring?
December 6, 2025 at 8:44 PM
Oh, oh, I heard Scotty Hamilton is doing commentary for the Olympics skating.

He was probably my first crush in FS. The whole family was glued to the tv for every event. All commentated by the great Dick Button. Taking my nieces to the tours to see our heroes in person. Good times!

just watched ladies SP and oh my.

Great group; so bummed about Amber and Kaori but they each have great free skates.

So happy to see the other four skate so well. One of these days I’m going to see a competition where everyone skates their best.

Well, I can’t be too angry about Yuma. His short program was wonderful. He earned the score,

Shun was lovely as well! The Japanese have such a deep bench (pardon the mixed metaphor).

Did Ilia get a new costume? First time I remember seeing him display any nerves. Still like his SP.

Grand Prix Senior Final starts tomorrow.

- can anyone get close enough to challenge Ilia?
- Kaori ”last dance” at GPF. I am going to miss that smile
- Amber so beautiful and still so hard on herself
- I hope Chock and Bates can take the top spot

Can’t wait

No wonder the dems lose. I had hopes that someone on the hill understood how to be the opposition party. The people got it!

So disappointed, Schumer needs to go and a lot of Dems need to be primaried.
I've said it before, and I will say it again.

We need courageous leaders that put working families at the center of all they do.

8 democrats caving to empty promises is an indefensible leadership failure

For the sake of our country, Schumer needs to resign.

Watching Grand Prix skating. I still miss seeing some of the retired skaters: Yuzu, Nathan, Keegan, Vincent

Very happy Amber is coming into her own power. Isabeau is still under rotating her jumps. She seems to be coping with her growth spurt very well.

Read about Susan Stamberg‘s death today and went checking on other NPR reporters. My favorite was Bob Edwards - what a voice - only to learn he died in 2024.

So many beautiful memories with Red Barber. What a way to wake up!

Rereading my posts - god I sound perky. Oh well perky has helped me thru this chaotic year.

Awake because i seem to be surrounded by people shooting off fireworks starting at 8 pm yesterday 😤🤬

“1776” is going to make me cry tonight.

I wonder if any of them thought we could (or many of us) sell ourselves right back into servitude to a corrupt government.

They didn’t have many illusions about people. They had such brilliant hopes and dreams.

Lucky grads! Their commencement speaker was Kermit - one of my favorite philosophers.

“Life is better when we leap together.” Kermit the Frog delivered a commencement speech at the University of Maryland on Thursday, the alma mater of his creator, Jim Henson. nyti.ms/4dwMuhQ

Emus - they make me laugh, these eerily beautiful creatures who are sssoooo curious. Foxfeather Zenkove has taught me so much about animals I never really thought about before. Enjoy the dance!!

The emus are performing arcane summoning rituals in the backyard again.

(This seems particularly appropriate to share today, in response to @tkingfisher.com's recent D&D emu adventures)

Watched the World Team Championships Figure Skating. Man so many exhausted skaters. A few thoughts

- I love watching Chock and Bates. Her costumes are so wonderful and she’s about as big as a minute!
