I extol old-fashioned 1800s values like feminism, socialism, and veganism. #BuyFromEU
Fresh flat bread is very important and can be made easily with a dedicated appliance (image 1) or a heavy pan inverted (image 2).

I don't own any large flat pans and don't want an arsenal of single function appliances, so a wok is particularly well suited.

I have purchased an absurdity. This overpriced stainless steel wok with a round interior (better for cooking), flat exterior (usable with standard cooktop), and difficult to photograph mirror finish.

Sadly the outer engraving (image 3) means it cannot be used as a saj cooker (image 4).

These endless remakes have become fully out of hand.

Sally of the Sawdust (1925) has a promising premise ruined by a clumsy execution, insulting ending, and being helmed by a complete dingus with no apparent interest in woman as full people.

Largely ditching the social satire of the original play (Poppy) is just deranged.

What if we were wrong, and make the world a better place for no reason.

In 2010 Let Li starred in Ocean Heaven, "real men are good fathers and kind to autistic people" the movie, saying he was drawn to the low budget production because he cried reading the script.

Meanwhile Jackie Chan laughs about having nothing to do with his lesbian daughter.

I have experienced that, most notably with The Assassin (2015) which is just achingly beautiful, but normally this is some mix of annoying and boring.

So I haven’t seen The Brutalist because I want to like it and worry that I won’t.

I think I found my new role model.

As for the stunning lifelike image quality: I believe these were taken with my trusty Sony Ericsson W800. The absolute peak of 2005 technology, it was liking having an iPod, a revolutionary mobile phone, and a breakthrough internet communications device ... all-in-one. 😱

While I am digging through old photos: looks at this ridiculous pocket notebook/"hipster PDA" I made by creating inserts for a passport wallet. c.2007

oh fun(?), I found a picture of my first violin from roughly a thousand years ago. It was a purple no-name Chinese made electric violin, facts I definitely used as cover for how poorly I played it.

If you can mange it, I highly recommend falling in love with a Dutch communist, moving to Norway where you dedicate your every breath to her, while there discover the hardingfele which resparks your childhood love of the violin, and befriend a weirdo or two specialising in their craft.

Getting an early start to the day by gazing pensively out my window at a ground that though bitterly cold each day remains, in defiance of all that is decent, utterly bereft of snow.

I had excessive hopes for the various “hackberry pi” projects, but we aren’t quite there yet.

Still, the dream of the Blackberry lives on!

I guess my version of this is when esr (Eric S. Raymond) told my team that no male in tech should ever be alone in a room with a female colleague due to the risk of false allegations of sexual assault.

Which it would later come out was not an isolated outburst.

If you find yourself in one of the good corners of ig, you will see east and west Asians excitedly swapping history about how our foods influenced one another in ancient times and perhaps should once more.

Here we have a Lebanese dish of dumplings in a yaourt or garlic sauce.

As one of the ethnic minorities people refer to when suggesting we can’t possibly give up gas cooking: induction cook tops are so good now, even with a wok.

I have this unit which has been fantastic.

I planned to ignore Frankenstein but immediate praise from people I respect caught my attention, so I saw it.

And I hate it. In this I see nothing interesting about the novel or its author. Just an aimless rehash made needlessly Christian and Victorian that centres men and their father issues.

That doesn’t look entirely dissimilar to mujadara, which most people are sadly too cowardly to serve with potatoes.

Now I am curious.
