The joys of university bureaucracy: create conditions that increase demand for class seats without an attendant increase in teaching resources while adding needless paperwork to attempts to add flexibility in the formats of course offerings in response to the increased demand.

I think it would probably be helpful overall if these committees work from the assumption that we know what we are doing.

Is the concept of a postgraduate theory seminar in the humanities so alien to the committees that process these course proposals that I have to provide a step-by-step description of how these typically go?

Now that I think about it, conferencing in Montreal in February does not sound like the greatest idea in terms of weather. Hoping my body hasn't lost all the winter adaptation it built up through the years since moving back to the tropics.

I seem to be finding myself at the Cinematheque in Yau Ma Tei a lot recently. Will probably try to catch the upcoming Bordwell on HK cinema thing next month as well.

Mostly liked it, but I'm kind of a sucker for metacommentaries on film form. Felt the overall frame story was a bit thin and heavy-handed though, which made the whole thing not quite fully cohere. Still visually impressive, overall though.
