When I ride my bike around the city I love to watch the skyline. It’s something that I’ve wanted to film for a long time. But it’s always been pretty shaky when I’ve tried

So today I’m going to try mount this vibration isolator from Proaim onto the front rack of my bike to try to smooth things out.

Happy vertical video day to those who celebrate!

Nothing makes my teeth hurt more than going to the dentist.

What if every time you went to your primary care doctor you left in more pain than you were in before?

I’ve conditioned my children to blow a raspberry and put their thumb down whenever they see a cybertruck

I ran into a guy at the playground that I know from a documentary project I was working on a year ago. He said “oh you’re the filmmaker.”

I don’t often feel like that describes me, but it’s nice that people put in the world think of me that way.

I, a grown man, got a bloody nose at an indoor trampoline park today.

I'm working on a small video editing app, and one of my goals is to improve on the nits I have with file handling in other video editing apps.

For example, exporting a new version of the video should rename the previous file rather than add a number to the end of the new file name.

The Von Trapp family hiding from the Nazis in the abbey and then undertaking a treacherous journey over the mountains to another country is so on the nose.

Sitting here talking to my five year old about Nazis and like why are we doing this all over again?

Watching The Sound of Music and it’s just so obviously relevant for today.

Republicans need to go back and watch it and realize they’re Rolf.

I get it. You’re a jackhammer operator. Every day you’re tearing up broken ass pieces of concrete, sidewalks no one cares about. It gets you down.

Then one day you come across this beautiful piece of asphalt. No cracks. Perfectly crowned. And you get to just go at it.

The work is its own reward.
CDOT just finished repaving the street and replacement sidewalks and water management is out here today tearing it up again.

CPS is closed today. Not having to wrest a kid out of bed and cajole them out the door by 7:15 puts me in such a better mood for the day.

School shouldn’t start so early.

It’s always hilarious when I get a Spotify notification announcing a new album from a long dead classical composer.

New album by Tchaikovsky just dropped!

There’s a runner I cross paths with nearly every day as I bike back from school drop-off. He waves, I wave back. I don’t know who he is, and we’re both covered head to toe in cold-weather gear, so I wouldn’t recognize him in any other context. I’m not sure who started waving first.

Some frame grabs from filming with Tarik Shahzad last Sunday. Tarik set the Cook County birding record last year, spotting 294 unique species in 2024.

Tarik guided us along the shore of Lake Michigan in Park No. 566 in South Chicago.

Video to come soon on YouTube.
