Dad, husband, ADHD, short form poet, arts & theatre worker, production/stage manager and set builder. Strong beliefs in right to repair, decriminalisation/legalisation of drugs.
Everyone should be allowed a few mistakes. It's how we grow and learn.
Now, I am sure I left the Overton Window around here somewhere...
Has someone moved it?

Like Portugal was before they decriminalised and ran with a health led approach.
The scourge of drugs will never, ever be defeated by law, or harsher punishments. They still have drugs in the Philippines, and they give out the death sentence!
The only way is through education and decriminalising.

Imagine if the police had all that time they spend on tracking down cannabis, to spend on actual harmful drugs?
November 28, 2025 at 3:43 PM
The guards currently value a cannabis plant at €8,000. Whenever I see no weight mentioned in an article, frankly, I believe they're massaging their figures to be "tough on crime".
This woman may have had 13 or 14 plants growing.
3 is legal in Switzerland.
We are behind the world with cannabis law.

The issue with *read the details of the case* is that so much incorrect information has already been written about the case.
How do I know what's right and wrong information at this stage?
Also, I haven't seen anything explain WHY he hasn't been sacked.
Something about the school board not meeting🤷
November 28, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Like I say, one day I hope to understand, because for the life of me, I cannot at the moment.
Maybe enough people aren't writing in to Winston's saying they will not enrol their children in the school whilst that head case is still working there.
November 28, 2025 at 2:47 PM
But why is a hearing necessary? Surely to God in can held in abstentia while he is/was locked up?
Wouldn't it have been cheaper at this stage to summarily dismiss him, even if he went to the Labour court and sued for unfair dismissal?
November 28, 2025 at 2:34 PM
One day I'm going to understand how he hasn't been sacked for bringing the schools reputation into disrepute.

I wouldn't expect a response

I would boot it onto the road.

I wonder if this is just the cash of the pension, or with the other "perks" fuel allowance, TV licence, free travel etc, etc.

Signs everywhere, saying no admittance.
The bar staff were not allowed in to watch the show, as we might disrupt the performance, or some such nonsense.
My colleague, honestly with tears in his eyes, "I would have bought a ticket..."
As soon as the gig started, we closed, cleaned and had to leave.
November 28, 2025 at 12:43 PM
I used to work in the Point in the bar, and it was announced Springsteen was doing an "intimate" gig there.
We never bought tickets as staff, as we walk through.
One of the lads, in his 50's, HUGE Springsteen fan so happy as he'd see him in concert, maybe even meet him backstage.
Day of the gig...
November 28, 2025 at 12:43 PM
I have a bad Springsteen story...
November 28, 2025 at 12:34 PM
Yeah, that one. I don't regret my decision. It broke me to see his whole in the gutter, looking at the stars persona was just an act.
November 28, 2025 at 12:29 PM
Tindersticks: had tickets to see them in the Olympia back in 97ish? Was meant to be going with a girlfriend, but she had a free gaff, so we blew off the gig to do what 17 year olds do...

Anyway, I said, no way, not paying that much. My mates got booked as town criers, fire poi, stilt walkers, and I felt a *pang* of jealously.
3 days before, they were all cancelled.
My mate flew him and his Mrs to Italy to see him play and it was cheaper than seeing him in a tent in phoenix park
