Fast forward to today, I'm teaching game dev full time to about 150ish students a year and doing a pair of GDC roundtables for other k12 game dev teachers in March.

My former students have been working AAA, indies, a bunch of them even made a studio and released a game on steam.

By the time the standards were approved, I had already written everything out in the forms my district/the state wanted. Had it approved by the end of the year and started teaching game development. My district says they could only put it on the schedule if 25 kids signed up. 200 signed up.

I was already teaching. I went to a conference for work and met a guy that was working on the draft standards for game development for my state.

Took a look at them, started writing my curriculum. Linked up with developers, studio heads, academics, anyone that would give me the time of day.

Are we getting big and tall sizes someday?

Between this and a pair of High School Roundtables, I am really hoping to get a lot of high school teachers out this year.

Massive for high school programs.

They used to have an "education summit" pass that was a good discount, but got away from it some time ago. This is significantly better as it is a true full pass.

It was very hard for newer teachers to convince their districts to send them.

Even so last year I personally spoke to 25 with most of them being at their first GDC and missed a whole bunch.

Best year ever and hoping to top that this year with the price drops and getting the word out to more districts about what GDC can do for their programs.

I have been pushing to get more of us, as I discover more of us and the cost increases had made it a harder sell for newer teachers that didn't have the capital in their district. (If they could talk their district into even considering it)

Thank you so much, when I wandered I to my first GDC, I thought I was the only k12 teacher there. I found out the next year that me and another just never crossed paths.

For years it was a handful of hanging out with the College folks (who were always awesome to us)

Sorry to bug you again. Had a couple teachers in my discord already reach out, is it a code or something?

Perfect I'll get the word out!
