Isn't Tr*mp sycophant Gabbard the head of the CIA? Surely not another one. Let's hope someone is keeping the shooter safe to go on trial, maybe he isn't meant to be.

Yes I agree, but for that to happen Russian would need to dominate Ukraine militarily (as it did with Crimea). I think the OP evidenced that this is unlikely and I was just suggesting that without that, there is little chance the Ukrainians would ever elect a pro-Russian (such as Yanukovych).

It is impossible for the UK to join the Single Market, let alone the EU unless we are fully prepared to embrace Freedom of Movement again. Perhaps we will soon reach the stage when Starmer feels able to speak of the benefits we enjoyed, both economically as a nation and personally, with FoM?

The faster the sanctions hurt the oligarchs propping up Putin the sooner he can be disposed of internally.
November 27, 2025 at 10:30 AM
I would suggest it is further from happening than at any time since 1991. it is unthinkable that this generation of Ukrainians will ever feel anything but contempt and hatred for Russia. And there is no chance of a Pro-Russian politician being elected President.

One of the most cynical, but very effective, lies perpetrated by May and Patel was to persuade the British public that Freedom of Movement was a kind of disease inflicted upon the UK by the EU, and one which needed to be eradicated 'once and for all'.

... however, whereas at the moment I am prepared to give Starmer some slack, there is a wider problem than just Reform being penetrated by Russia and I think you are right, in due course there should be a full national investigation as Davey suggested.
November 26, 2025 at 5:23 PM
I think it's worth considering that MI5 may have a covert investigation ongoing, or that, now he has been convicted and sentenced, Gill is looking to his future parole hearing and being fully cooperative with Special Branch about others involved. In either of these cases, Starmer should wait.

It doesn't look good for Witkoff that the Russians are desperate to keep him in place.

'Twas on a Monday morning, The gas man came to call.....

Oh it all....
November 26, 2025 at 1:17 PM
Obvious to you perhaps, but not to the highly experienced 'international crisis negotiator' Witkoff.
November 26, 2025 at 10:48 AM
He is a malignant narcissist and I suspect he is now conditioned to believe that his 'word' is the law.
November 25, 2025 at 10:24 AM
Well, Cameron held the EU Referendum to bring the party together. Seems it's working.
November 24, 2025 at 6:18 PM
Why would anyone call you out on it? It's patently and objectively true.

People support different political parties and different politicians, so it's understandable that Starmer could personally discover a cure for all known diseases and he would still be disliked and criticised by people.

Venezuala has a population of about 30 million and a military with 125,000 professional troops. The US will win any serious war, but in the process thousands of US servicemen would return in flag draped coffins. This would not be like driving into Iraq with the British army alongside them.

Rubio has probably got a slap from Miller, the de-facto President. It is very likely that his reported phone call with senators, where he told them it was a Russian authored plan, would have been recorded by someone on the call (idiots if they didn't, since he is now calling them liars).
November 23, 2025 at 11:10 AM
It doesn't move on very quickly if Angela Rayner buys a house, or Starmer's wife has a new frock. Journalists (including yourself) seem not interested in doing in-depth reporting of real news, but rather are told by their owners to manufacture dramas which sell papers or gain viewers.
November 23, 2025 at 10:59 AM
Witkoff is a real estate developer, not a 'smart negotiator'. An absurd appointment by Tr*mp, but completely consistent with the absurd Tr*mp administration. Full of incompetent, inexperienced, sycophants and cronies.
November 23, 2025 at 7:22 AM
Which is exactly why the regime can't let there be an 'end'. Look ahead to 2028. Can anyone imagine that Tr*mp (if he is still alive) will just gracefully transfer power to a Democrat? What in recent history could persuade anyone that he will do that?
November 23, 2025 at 7:17 AM
The strategic objectives of 1938 Germany and 2025 Russia are different. Putin doesn't just want some more 'living room', he fears a vibrant, democratic and economically successful Ukraine, next door. That's why giving him a bit of Donbas won't be the end of the war, just the end of chapter 1.

I take no pleasure in saying it. I lived and worked in the States for a couple of years and had a strong affinity, so it's very dispiriting to see how things are now.
November 21, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Tr*mp really, really wants that Nobel prize.
