This. I’ve been doing some peer review work lately and while I have been rejecting articles for not fitting the one I’ve submitted to, I have done my best to say: “Hey - this other journal is a much better home for your work!”

I suffer from chronic “passive voice” in my writing. It comes from lack of surety and confidence in my ability to write. It feels more comfortable and appropriate, even when I’m writing for publication.

I keep having the opposite problem 😞

Very useful - I’ve found several new journals this way that I now either add to my BrowZine or have on my list to submit to.

I bailed on Scrivener and went back to a combo of Obsidian and Word.

Obsidian for raw writing and chunks of that first draft. Word for polishing it off and making edits.

It sucks, especially when there’s a gap between what the committee wants and reality.
