Identity politics for me, but not for thee. (my identity is being a piece of shit)

It's one of those where it's not even a matter of gender or race: Biden was hounded relentlessly for not genuflexing at the altar of the media. Meanwhile, when Olivia Nuzzi was justifiably attacked for her egregious breach of deontology, they all closed rank to protect her against those evil libs.

Once again, American elite media fundamentally believes that only Republicans matter and Democrats need to know their fucking place.

Love that the official stance of the US government now is that saturated fats are good for you and you should eat more of them.

Fell for the ol' ludonarrative dissonance, eh?

Thank you. And then people say that the gaming industry is in crisis because of corporate greed or gamers themselves being greedy and entitled or whatever, when the real culprit is actually just the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

I mean, has someone calculated how much time it would take the average person working a 9-5 to complete *just* every Game Awards nominee?
November 17, 2025 at 5:14 PM
Yeah, in reality the main issue these days is that there are *too many* good games.

Rent-seeking is the inalienable right of the asshole.

My favorite part of the Nightmare Vorkuta mission is when they replaced the attack helicopter fight with a *second* Guild VTOL boss, and instead of being a cool setpiece like in the original Blops it's just another bullet sponge.

"The portobello mushroom reminded me of my mother. How she would cook for me every autumn. The leaves were falling, and every time it filled my chest with a strange feeling. Today I understand what this feeling was: it was dread."

Alas, it is.

Yes, though the story of the game itself happens in 2035, ten years after Black Ops 2, which happened in 2025.
November 16, 2025 at 6:47 AM
The very same!
November 16, 2025 at 6:43 AM
Oh, that part is perfectly normal: it's a Call of Duty tradition. Calling cards you get from challenges often come in thematic sets, and fantasy is a relatively common theme. Here's for a example a fantasy/death-themed set from Black Ops: Cold War:
November 16, 2025 at 6:41 AM
That was just one example. Another is the obligatory adds phase where the boss disappears until they're all dead, or the DPS phase where a timer causes the size of the arena to shrink so you have to hit him with all you got to nuke his healthbar before you lose.

The giant machetes airstrikes made sense during the Menendez fight because all of that was in their head, but the mechs are actually real, and you fight them at the bottom of the sea!
November 16, 2025 at 5:50 AM
One thing I would really like someone to explain to me though is how the Hellfire missiles from the hallucinated airdrops actually hurt the mechs in real life during the final boss fight.
November 16, 2025 at 5:45 AM
Believe it or not, this isn't even the most Far Cry 3 boss fight in this game.

A giant Michael Rooker.
