Women and nonbinary, women and femmes. In trying to escape the rigidity of gender roles and pitfalls of the patriarchy, a certain subset of queers have created a new set of boxes to shove the "good ones" in. It'd be a lot easier if they could just come out and say "we don't want people we perceive as men" in this group's events. The current wording as-is is one can of worms anyway. This would just be a different can of worms.

GAY NEWS EVERYONE: I WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY THE $5.3K ESTIMATE FOR MY HYSTERECTOMY!!! I updated on Monday a little too soon since I actually became nauseous after looking at the paperwork the medical financial assistance department requested (thinking about taxes is very stressful, even after it's all been filed correctly) and once again couldn't keep breakfast down. I spent the majority of the day thereafter living like a Victorian era toddler, unable to look at my phone or even read books, and much too afraid to eat more than saltine crackers and soup, before remembering that I didn't have to ration out my painkillers... I have been taking it easy since and going on a few less silly little walks for my health since my umbilical stitch has bled a little. It clots very quickly as it's only superficial but I'd rather not bleed if I can help it. A call to the nurses confirmed that as long as I'm not experiencing any pain without pressure, swelling, odor, or discoloration in the area then I don't have anything major to worry about, and as long as I don't experience prolonged pain then there shouldn't be any internal bleeding. I will need to check my work inbox soon for paperwork regarding the top surgery. Please wish me a smooth recovery (especially since my birthday was on the 15th!)

Insurance doesn't want me to have the gender-affirming surgery that would alleviate a source of depression & anxiety caused by gender dysphoria because recovery from the surgery that alleviates the gender dysphoria may be interfered with by the depression & anxiety.

I can't make this shit up.
The request tells us your doctor has ordered a certain type of surgery (gender-affirming surgery, hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy). This surgery can be approved under the plan clinical criteria for those age 18 or older when all the following are met: 3) there is no other health condition that will interfere with this procedure or treatment afterward; ... The information we have does not show that you meet criteria 3. Since you are being treated for depression and anxiety, we would need a letter of support from your mental health provider stating that these will not interfere with your recovery. For this reason, we cannot approve the request. It may help your doctor to know we reviewed this request using the MCG guideline Gender-Affirming Surgery or Procedure (GRG:GG-FMMF).

BIG NEWS EVERYONE! TOP SURGERY HAS BEEN APPROVED AND I'M SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 18, 2025. I've been in a bit of an energy slump during the past week because I got a flat tire last Monday, but I just finished a call from the surgery office and got confirmation that the billing codes were accepted! The receptionist and I confirmed dates and numbers, and the total estimate I need to pay upfront is $3,161.01 by November 4, 2025. I'm not sure if this estimate took into consideration the costs associated with the total hysterectomy, but it's nice to know the surgery itself won't be as extravagantly expensive as it could be. Still, all the costs combined are not something I can afford on my own, so your support is still vital.
