For sure, and I understand wanting to cut out extra steps, but if you have a goal of uplifting indie authors, then you have to consider them on every level. I will do something similar, where I will have KDP authors ship me copies and I will pay them as if I was buying through Ingram with a discount

Yes!! I have my issues with amazon as a company, and their print quality pisses me off regularly, but they pay the most and cost the least (for ordering physicals). I’ll go B&N Press for nicer print stuff, but it sucks how much more economic and EASY amazon is.

Ingram is the best for ordering indie titles currently. Some indie authors have wholesale setups directly through the author, but they are few and far between 🥲

I really like how Ken Burns does his documentaries. Haven’t seen this one but I recently enjoyed the Mark Twain episodes.

I’m slowly figuring it out but do I know when anything I ordered has shipped? Absolutely not! But, is it at least a good interface? NOPE! But but does it have all the titles I am looking for? Not that either!
I will be working on setting up direct links with publishers as soon as I can.

All of this just to say that I will carry KDP authors on a case by case basis (obviously can’t afford to stock them all, plus the process will be a little bit more complicated than ordering via Ingram etc). But I don’t want to alienate the ppl I aim to uplift just bc they didn’t use my enemy Ingram.

Not saying I love amazon bc obviously they are a shit company and make it hard for authors in other ways. But it wouldn’t hurt to idk actually talk to an indie author before making assumptions about what it good/bad for them.
