the end is near! we got a bump again on the relay and looks like it's catching up much faster now.

*I should probably also add your account and everything is okay. The PDS is working as it should. It's just the Bluesky now playing catch up and playing those events on the firehose as it catches up to the new records. Once caught up everything will be as it is before and should not happen again

Monitoring and seeing what I can do. But I think it's just up to Bluesky's Relay to chew through the backlog of the event's from the PDS.

I am really sorry about this, any write operations are behind. But can still read and view bsky normally.

slightly longer tldr: I found out the hard way today that the api rate limits are not on by default on self hosted PDSs, someone non-maliciously created 20k records, waiting on relay to process

Yes. don't set create a new account and use bsky.social as the PDS. The account to orginally been created on a bsky PDS

they were backfilling a twitter account and ended up causing us to by pass the relay limit. not their fault but mine, did not realize the pds rate limits were not on by default :/. Tried a take down to see if it would stop. looks like it wont, just stuck in relay backlog for now

been watching this on main till it shows someone else it's still churning through that backlog.

Hey may check your email I sent out a system notice and posted on @selfhosted.social right before it cut off. Looks like the bsky relay is picking up events again, just has a massive backlog of events to go through. Sorry about the inconvenience

it's not :( events are hitting the relay faster but still catching up and should be good once it is caught up
