IMHO, the three biggest derbies in the world, in any order, are:

Boca v River
Celtic v Huns
AC v Inter

Note that Barca v Real, while a huge match, is not a derby. All others are strictly of local or regional interest.

If ever the SRU needed proof that Toonie's time is up, this is it.
Shocking stuff.

🚨Breaking News🚨

Irish rugby fans in meltdown after watching Ireland being referred properly for the first time since World Rugby moved its HQ to Dublin.

Nope, you're bang on.
I don't think the entire board but certainly Brian Wilson and his political masters in Westminster.
The power of Celtic fans to influence public opinion across the world is pretty vast and of serious concern to several nefarious governments.

RD is not listed as a director. As a proxy, he is permitted to make a statement on behalf of a shareholder but not an official statement on behalf of a non-exec - it's illegal.
The optics, however, (RD in blazer, tie, at the top table) infer that it was an official statement - highly illegal.

🎯
RD and his father played a leading role in developing a culture of greed, social ignorance and corruptable arrogance that went unchallenged in Ireland at the turn of the century. And despite them being flagbearers of said culture, they're certainly not alone.

A proxy can make a statement on behalf of another shareholder but not an official statement on behalf of a non-exec - there are strict rules in place.
Meaning, RD's statement certainly blurs the line of legality because it could be interpreted as an official statement.

As I said initially, I have great sympathy for the fans' anger at the AGM, but it is counter productive to our objective.
Remember, this was an AGM for a public limited company in which corporate law applies.
I know it stinks but politicking at this level is an entirely different ball game.

Important to remember that Desmond's biggest weakness is his ego - he would rather lose some of the relatively little money he's invested in Celtic than lose face amongst his peers. Meaning, he'll fight to the bitter end.
Hence why we first need an effective PR strategy to counter that of the board.
November 21, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Good question but it is possible. As shown by the myriad takeovers and reverse takeovers throughout history. Of which Desmond is an expert.
That said, it's a dirty business that requires intelligence gathering, power shifts, subterfuge, influence, capital and most of all, a damn good PR team.

Despite having great sympathy with fans' anger at the Celtic AGM, the way to oust a failing plc board is not to shout and swear but to adopt a clearly defined corporate strategy.
Ergo, the board knows that most fans do not understand corporate law, hence its successful divide and rule approach.

Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Brian Wilson's grubby paws are all over this. The whole thing stinks of political subterfuge.

Thought about this as well. Scotland certainly needs another quality midfield baller to help the transition from defence to attack. As proven last night by how many times we couldn't get out our half.

The more I look at how high McTominay gets off the ground, the more I shake my head in disbelief. In one balletic move, he gets higher than the crossbar on two occasions.
