Been trying it with water energy too and idk which version I like more. It's hard to get off more than 1 action with mantyke so I'm either committing to a 40 damage altaria or a 100 damage poliwrath. I think having both energies is probably better

Idk I find it tedious and the power isn't crazy high, the most fun thing about it imo is activating it in 1 turn

I also really really like the slice of life components of it, especially the eating scene at the end of every day.

I know it sounds like the game just has overly simplistic writing for a child audience but it ends up making for very endearing characters who are just caught way in over their heads and doing their best despite it all. Like children suddenly facing apocalypse, with no adults to protect them

Additionally a lot of issues they face, like in trust and confidence and teamwork, are also delivered in a very simple but sincere way, how you might imagine a kid learning about these things for the first time.

I don't know how to describe why I like it so much. The way characters flatten nuance like "he did this, does that mean he's a bad Pokémon...?" or have to over explain simple circumstances remember back to things that happened immediately prior really sells they're not too sharp

Their very juvenile understanding of the world, or of good and evil, ends up being intensely charming especially considering the actual stakes of the game are very high.

Also a lot of Pokémon I had absolutely no opinion about, like chatot or grovyle or loudred, get great roles

15min later I step out to do a different exam and he's waiting outside a different room. He points to it and says can I go back in? I'm like, weren't you room 40? He's like yeah 40 and holds up his wristband which says 40. I tell him "that's 39" and he's like "oh shit" fs he was high too.
