I'm not sure if there's anything you can generalize about the "break even point". I used y=2 in both examples, and there when x=4 you have x^y=y^x. But I'm not sure there's any relationship to e there you can use to come up with a rule.

I'm not sure there's anything to generalize though. You can have x=10 and y=2 so x > e > y. Here, 100 = x^y < y^x = 1024
Set x=3 and y=2 so x > e > y. Here, 9 = x^y > y^x = 8
