A long poem about today that just seemed to write itself.
Wow, go me, I worked so hard today. Left my bed at quarter past nine. Showered, breakfast, made my mate, Time stops for no badger, and at 10 I had a 1:1 with the manager: “Anything on your mind?” Never. Go on. Let’s get to the point my g. “Would you want to extend your time here by another two months?” (teehee) Ah, really? Heh, I guess that’s now a thing, When in March next year I’d thought this would all be ending. All this after yesterday’s poem: “APATHY”, whereby I’d had a good moan At the current state of affairs in my head And in barely twelve words had enough of it there been said. Still, I wouldn’t wanna turn down a few extra P’s In this economy? Fuck me, I’d be a bit more at ease. But how to now keep myself motivated? When by then for my redundancy I’d have 11 months bloody waited. Fuck it. Let’s see what they say, man. At least heading back to Bolivia for a bit is still next summer’s plan, And how to stay motivated? I guess I’ll just think of that day when The great Illimani’s in my sights again.

I've been trying out a poem a day lately. It's felt somewhat cathartic. Here are this weekend's.
With flooding having only led to certain plans then falling through, I knew I’d have to forge about a day that would make do. So off along to Bristol did I go to idly spent my day With visits to old bookshops and old cafés I did pay. But on the way back into town encountered I a far right protest, With flag-brandishing dickheads there creating needless unrest. We saw them off but not before those kids down to us waved their thanks And showed us their hand-written notes, it was then my heart truly sank. And then I trodded homewards, my stomach in a knot, I didn’t see my friends today, but bothered I am not. Often over these last few weeks have I Reflected on a prior time gone by, Defined not by these joys I find today But by the cruelty, misery and dismay. I came too close to closing all that was, The combined weight of years, I’d felt, the cause, Though over time those ills began to drift And gradually that weight from me did lift. As rays of sunlight through the clouds transpierce, As every drop released then perseveres, That in times of obscurity, exist There reasons to proceed and to persist. The flow of life’s impermanence, like bubbles down a weir, Per angusta ad augusta, I’m glad to still be here.
