It's horrifying and fascinating watching how far down the line you have to go to get Americans to start paying attention.

"They killed dozens of human beings. Over non-capital crimes. Possibly including innocents. In a way that would be a war crime-- oh *now* I have your attention?"

The cross-and-blue-check combo is such a good predictor that the Tweet you're about to read was written by someone with undiagnosed schizophrenia.

Solving for this system of equations using today's date (the 337th day of 2025), we find that X is somewhere between about 2.96 and 7.96.

This implies 199X is somewhere between Thursday, Dec 17th, 1992 (a leap year) and Tuesday, Dec 16th 1997.

Tear it down and investigate the donors paying for it. Bribing the President is still a crime, and they should bear the full weight of that crime.

If memory serves, just the 'S's of his father's little black book contained the world's greatest female assassin, the world's greatest female martial artist, and a world-renowned scientist who works for the Joker.

I might have the letter or occupations wrong, but nevertheless it's really dumb.

Trump could never be The Joker; he's incapable of being funny. He lacks the wit.

I guess what confuses me is why bar associations were ever considered meaningful/respectable/serious institutions.

They appear to be as craven or corrupt as most of the other institutions we have.

If you were caught stealing food to feed yourself as often as these two are caught committing fraud, the courts would consider locking you up for good for being impossible to rehabilitate.

The intersection of
- people siding with an obvious villain
- people making a definitive choice, even though they are catastrophically uniformed

Yeah, sounds like America.

For reference, Indiana has gone roughly 60:40 in the past three Presidential elections.

~40% of the population stripped of any representation in their government at the state level, with the added bonus of further corrupting the federal Legislature. Shitty, broken country.

16% favorability on Nero is wild, and makes me think at least 15.5% of people were willing to lie about which ancient figures they're aware of to sound smart.

I'm leaving 0.5% to cover contrarians, historians with nuanced views, and people with personal grudges against Rome.

I love the way these guys say 'occult' in this scene, it cracks me up every time.
"Do you believe in witches and the Ah'klt?"

Do you happen to have a link to the Hirasawa song? I can't find anything online.

Their best hope is to buy this guy's silence with a pardon (on the infinitesimal chance anyone is ever charged).

Leaving him to swing on his lonesome seems like it would incentivize him to narc on his commanders. Plus, letting him be charged undermines their absolute authority and right to kill.
December 1, 2025 at 9:06 PM
There's no world in which this guy doesn't get a pardon, right?

I think it's closer to: "My majority is [civilized/smart/tough/serious/righteous] and if we become the minority society will falter and we will be unjustly mistreated."

The conclusion stems from the same ego as the self-aggrandizing belief.
December 1, 2025 at 5:14 PM
I've heard that conclusion ("they're worried about being in the minority, because they know how they treat minorities") in many contexts, and I just don't think it's right. I don't think people have that level of empathy or introspection.
