#SFFChat A4: A snippet from my current WIP, The Forgotten Princess.
Snippet image, text reads: Orn kept his gaze part on Laela, and part on the late afternoon light dimming made that much worse as it filtered through the trees. Some barren, some not, he kept searching. Nerves jittering through him, Laela’s dogged pursuit of whatever this lightning—“Is that it, princess?” Atop one of the hills sat a large tree, its branches spreading to the sky like the fractal fingers of a lightning strike. Bereft of almost all of its leaves, it cast a dark silhouette against the remnants of light behind it. Like a bolt straight out of the ground, it reached for the sky. Those leaves that did remain, golden and orange, added a fiery shimmer that seemed to almost move.

Oh, oh, please, I know you’ve come to see me. Please open the door.” The voice wheedled from the other side as they pressed eagerly to get in. “Yes, but I don’t even know who are you. How about you?” Orn looked over his shoulder at her. “How am I supposed to know?” Laela said, part whisper, part hiss.
