Narrative has to suffuse the whole game, otherwise it falls flat. That means you need a narrative direction from the beginning.

The only way that works is if you consider that DnD and Pathfinder are the easiest games to FIND PLAYERS for.

So it hasn't improved efficiency, isn't used to create actual content, and is used to "flesh out" PowerPoint presentations and generate placeholder text.
