Trump’s behavior here is comprehensible if you look at his motivations - he is desperate to notch his belt with a peace deal (doesn’t matter what it actually is or does) - he believes he’s owed a Nobel Peace Prize. If he has to throw Ukraine under the bus to get it, so be it.
