also tbh for a lot of them, its mostly about a 'papers please' society specifically for them and theirs. if it applied to specific out-groups, they'd be rapidly on-board

i really liked him as a parallel to harald this chapter, i think. both are people that seem to have resigned themselves to the beds they/their circumstances have made. fun character, pretty terrible person tho
