This data provides context for the marginal tax rates in the 1940's to 1970's. Those wealthy folks were taxed at high rates, which encouraged them to leave money in businesses... to research and innovate. And the money they did pay in taxes kept the rest of people from falling through the cracks.

At the same time, the wealthiest 10 percent has so much extra wealth beyond what they need for day-to-day living... and it continues to generate additional wealth.

This is concerning!
The bottom 50% of households by wealth account for 3% of the wealth. The challenge with this is that these are the people that are utilizing all of their income for daily living expenses. They do not have the capacity to build wealth, which requires savings and investment. 🧵
