I think this something people forget. Small town newspapers were built by passionate citizens and large cities had labor or class papers. You can have truth and bias… one without the other is failure.
The job literally is to shape public understanding by selecting, framing, interpreting. Journalists and media outlets need to accept they are part of the story, part of the conflict. There is no way for them not to intervene – only to decide on the kind of intervention they would like to make.
