For the past 50 years, the United American Indians of New England has been organizing a national day of mourning demonstrations to:

✅Teach the history of the Wampanoag people
✅Tell the full Thanksgiving story
✅Create Awareness of historical and ongoing struggles of Native American tribes

The Wampanoag and neighboring Native nations in present-day New England practiced rituals of giving thanks long before they had first contact with European settlers.

One of these rituals was Cranberry Day, an annual Wampanoag holiday to celebrate the cranberry harvest.
