The fleet as it currently stands. It’s a constant battle to keep these on the road, but it’s gratifying after every repair to think the car is just a bit improved compared to before. Along with the rarity of some of these, it’s the challenge which becomes the thrill of the chase and all worthwhile.
Fifteen months after the introduction of the Peugeot 309 - developed to be sold as the Talbot Arizona until the decision was made to phase out that brand - the three door model debuted.

I hate that my Buick Roadmaster has to sit outside, but it’s now getting winterised.

This was another bargain I was offered but had to turn down: this 1973 Saab Sonett III was being sold by a widow and the lead passed to me by a guy towing it who was a friend of mine. It was towed to a Saab specialist after being sat for a couple of years.

My son’s former Volkswagen Golf GTi Autobahn, which was the highest specification model. Lovely to drive, but nothing like as fun as the original mk1.

I found this 1991 Sterling 827SL at the back of a breaker’s yard on the Ohio-Pennsylvania line. Apart from a missing front emblem, it’s complete.

Sixty Panther Westwinds DeVilles were built over an eleven year period, notable for being the most expensive cars in Britain for a while. Two of these two-door coupes were commissioned for the movie 101 Dalmatians and sequels. The Jaguar V12 engine was swapped for a Chevrolet V8.

The Renault 30TS was sold in Canada between 1976 and 1977. It was not built by SOMA and was an expensive captive import. This one cropped up recently in the classified ads. It’s extremely rare.

The 1986 Grand Detroit FC from Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Six were built from a Chrysler LeBaron front, and a Dodge 600 rear and interior. The TC wood trim was added by the studio. Chrysler refused their emblems to be used on the cars. 501 ‘86 factory Chrysler LeBaron TCs were built but not used.

Jaguar’s upcoming I-Type GT is likely to be far sleeker than the Type 00 concept it unveiled with its advertising campaign. Repositioning themselves as an exclusive super-saloon manufacturer I think is a wise move to finally shake off the poor reliability image which it’s carried since the 1970s.

Peter Monteverdi established his boutique car manufacturing business in Basel in 1967. He built a variety of bizarre machines, often using Chrysler V8s. The Tiara was his final car, a modified Mercedes W126 notably using Peugeot 505 taillights. Only three were built before operations ceased in 1982.

If you haven’t seen it already, Martin’s channel “Grand Thrift Auto” is a must-see. He has one of the most interesting collections of cars on YouTube (almost everything he has I have in Corgi form) and his restoration skills are brilliant. He deserves to be in the big time. youtu.be/pCv2B30tOeE?...
