Some day, I will inflict this book on others.
You blinked away crystalline tears. “The…the world devourer.” Each pause in your words was its own eternity. “Its presence. A sacrifice.” You undid the shawl around your shoulders and pulled your shirt over your breasts. The scars on your chest, the marks I had noticed all those weeks before… You traced over them like stars in a constellation. Because, I realized at last with a ragged wheeze, it was a constellation. The Font. “No.” Your shirt billowed and fell, obscuring the scars from view. “The chosen Celestine destined to face the world devourer…their body becomes the vessel sealing the rot away.” “No.” “All of this time…” My voice emerged a shattered whisper. “Stop.” “My purpose—” “Enough, Seren.” “My purpose was to die.” “I don’t—fuck—I don’t know. There has to be something else. Someone else. Another Celestine to take your place.” I was babbling now, unable to stop. “It’s too cruel for this to be—there has to be someone else. I need you, Seren.” And though you scrambled away from me, I followed you with all the desperation of a dog tailing its master. I forced our gazes to meet. “This cannot be how our story ends.” All three of your eyes reflected a shattered vision of pain, so sharp it wounded me to look upon. Foreheads pressed together, we sat in that fragile spiral of anguish until you at last nodded. “Right.” Your voice was all fractured glass. “Right. All the other Celestine, they’ve done this alone. But I have you. And if I have you, I… I…” There is a ragged scar within me, Seren, borne of this moment. How desperate we were to change the tides of fate, as if we ever stood a chance. You didn’t want to leave me behind. I understand that now. You loved me, just as much as I have always loved you. It’s the kind of love that burns you like kindling and leaves you a charred husk, the kind that feels unstoppable in its intensity. All the same, there is no amount of love that could have made a difference, no matter how badly we wanted it to. I understand that now, too. At the end of it all, I am what remains, the charred husk on your funeral pyre. Oh, if only this was a different sort of story.

The PS2 turns 25, here are my 4 favs

I have only play SOTC as its PS4 remaster, but the point still stands. One of the most games of all time.

Time stretched spindly fingers, encasing us in a web of perfect calm. I can not say how long I spent staring into your gemstone eyes, how many times I traced the curve of your face. When I at last pressed my mouth to yours, our kiss lasted a thousand lifetimes. “At the very least,” you said as we pulled apart at last, “you and I will make for the most fascinating of stories.” I do not know what lies beyond this fragile existence, Seren. Some part of me maintains faith you are cradled amongst the stars even now. Can you hear me from so far away? Can you hear how I have spun our story into such a song? How I have immortalized the lacework of you and I? Do you hear my voice tremble now, so close to the end? Do you hear me? Have I fascinated you yet?

I have good reason for it with FLESH. Something something being able to depersonalize Experiencing the Horrors if you tell yourself it's not really happening to you. Pros: * fun pov to write * perfect for sliding from second to first a la Harrow * good for character distance (see above) Cons: * I also gotta write Tereża's POV and hers is in third I think * Too many POVs? We have first, second, and third?? * why must everything i write be second person @_@ * no framing device this time so second person may make "less sense" Whether I go third or second for Vaż, the intention is to still have her slip to first as she continues to build her sense of self and her personhood. Tereża will likely stay in third tho DRACONAKO 9:01AM Galaxy brain solution: a slow slide through the novel across all three. Summary part two: electric bugaloo. This time it's better!
Vaż is a Voidheart, an unfeeling construct of the abyss. After years of moving from body to body and vessel to vessel, she's ready to compete against her Voidheart siblings, slay the oracle of light, and become the harbinger of eternal darkness. But on the verge of delivering the killing blow, she falters. Knowing she cannot return to her creators with this failure hanging over her, Vaż sets out to protect the oracle from her Voidheart siblings. After all, to ensure her own survival at the end of the world, *she* needs to slay the oracle and become the harbinger of the dark. But as the two of them grow closer, Vaż learns a damning secret: though she has struggled for years to ascend, Talia Tereża Navarra cannot wield the light protecting this world. And without an ascended oracle, Vaż and her construct kin have nothing to slay. If Vaż wants to bring eternal night, she'll need to help Tereża gain control of her powers. Too bad her Voidheart siblings will stop at nothing to see the both of them dead. Worse still, for the first time, Vaż may be experiencing the impossible: feelings.

Not because the oracle makes her variety of vessels stir—and *certainly* not because, for the first time, Vaż may be experiencing the impossible: feelings.

Forgive this being in comic sans I just want to share my cool dragon lore
“So you may be unaware, then, of the phenomenon that happens when a whale dies?” I shook my head. “Right.” Alsanna balanced their mug with some effort on the arm of their chair and pulled their legs up beneath them. Crosslegged, they placed their hands palm-up on their knees and let out a low hum. “When a whale dies beneath the surface,” they said once they were settled, “the marine life around it feeds from the sudden excess in resources. It is an essential element of the lifecycle. Dragons are similar; when a dragon dies, energy leeches from it and changes the landscape in its vicinity. Plants grow haphazardly. Animals absorb its essence as they devour it. Often, when this happens, the life feeding on a dragon’s corpse… changes.” In my mind’s eye, I saw a cluster of weasels prancing on a cliffside, honking to each other with exuberance. A younger Firien, small-spined and lacking in wings, danced with them. “So he has not always been a dragon,” I said. “Quite so. Either at his birth, or shortly thereafter, it appears the place he called home became the sight of a dragonfall.”

Firien, ever the intelligent beast, roused from his place on my shoulder. “I–I didn’t mean to.” “The one thing I told you not to do.” A long, belabored sigh escaped you. Then, “You named him Rats.” “Pigeon.” Your head snapped up, three eyes unreadable as they regarded me. “Pardon?” “Firien tas-sema. Rats of the sky.” Truthfully, I hadn’t thought that far ahead as to Firien’s naming convention, but it felt right. “I named him pigeon.” “Even better.” It was then I registered the flat affect of your voice, the way you dodged my gaze. How nervous energy sung in every minute twitch of your body. “Have…have I done something wrong?” I asked. “No.” And yet, you wouldn’t look at me.

The piers became narrow sidewalks of stone. Buildings towered well overhead. Colored glass gleamed in every window, some shaped into a picturesque scene and others a single pane. Silk and cotton undulated from balconies and hung from the frames of every person we passed. As the sun set, it cast gold over it all. Golden spires. Golden glass. Golden people. It was as though I had stepped into a honeyed dream. A soft breeze stirred my hair and the tip of Firien’s tail and there came the musical tinkling of glass. The sound shivered up my spine and itched at my brain. My gaze darted wildly along the narrow street, desperate as I was to locate the source. Hanging from the balcony above us were a gleaming collection of glass tubes, each one a different size. They were joined at the top by delicate chains hung from a hook in the stone. As the wind gave another gentle exhale, the tubes twisted and clinked together, producing a scattered song. Perhaps it is simple of me, to have been captivated by something so insignificant… And yet, it was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard.
