My siblings and I had to witness some of the most gruesome things imaginable, and it was the innocent who had to carry the burden my father's stubbornness loaded onto their shoulders. A horrible disease decimated Egyptian livestock severely. Cattle died like flies, where they stood. The poor animals got sick, suffered, and dropped dead, mostly within a quite short time, which was merciful for them, but horrible for the owners, and the Egyptian people, too...

It's been a few weeks now that I have been driving in the pitch black darkness of a fall night, in a rural area, which I seem to do far too often nowadays, as I just realize... I have mentioned before the importance of driving very carefully around dusk, and I have learned to slow down in rural areas, where deer and other animals are present, and I strive to avoid harming them.

When I started drafting the plot and characters for the current WIP, I worked intensively on the character flaws and decided that one of the protagonists should be 'blessed' with a character flaw I had started to face in a friend a few years ago (and continue to experience): covert narcissism. It took me quite a while to find out what the character flaw means, how it's diagnosed, and what the symptoms are.
