Being incarcerated costs more than you think
Our monthly cable bill rose by $5. We only make a few cents per hour. Many of us can't afford the price hike.

Incarceration makes every part of life harder. This piece is a great example of just one of the overlooked struggles—and makes you wonder what else goes unheard.
In a recent piece, Kelsey Dodson shares what it's like to menstruate in prison. One woman says she was forced to bleed through her underwear, her pants, and finally her white blanket during an hour-long count. This piece was co-published with @theguardian.com. Please give it a read.

Dignitaries turned out for the commencement ceremony honoring 16 men who earned bachelor’s degrees from Northwestern University through the Northwestern Prison Education Program.
