Aunt Ruth

I've spent my life in the southern USA, but my people aren't from around here.
Older than the Pope.
Geographically, what was the state-of-origin of your original snickerdoodle recipe? (eg, I had never heard the name, or tasted one, until I went to Indiana.)

A college friend said their rule was, "I want to finish a paper in time to SLEEP at least a few hours before I go hand it in."

(This was back when "turn it in" meant "walk across campus to the professor's mailbox.")

This concept boggled me.

ABSOLUTELY.

Much more promising than most of the stuff salespeople are flogging to prevent dementia.

(Meanwhile, we continue our efforts to avoid COVID-19. Viral attacks and inflammatory situations just seem Not Good for Brains in general.)

It can be horrific in elderly people.

My aunt had bad dementia, and outbreaks of shingles.

Imagine that you wake - feel excruciating pain - have no memory of what it is - and get restrained because you're tearing up your skin.

I got the shot as soon as they'd let me, and later the improved shots, and I'm damned grateful for them.

At first glance, I imagined it was her sword.

Watch your back for Dr Oz! bsky.app/profile/leah...
NEW: Dr. Oz is quite literally telling his federal employees to eat less.

“You don't have to try every cookie on the holiday table,” wrote Mehmet Oz in an email to all Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services employees.

It's been a real pleasure to watch younger friends get passionate about visible mending, garment-making, embroidery, knitting. Some very much link up activism with making. Lots of them seem to be self-taught with videos, not by aunts or grandmas. (It's cool to link up!)

As a supplement to what y'all are doing, he might want to check out this (FREE!) ebook. It's targeted at folks who have very limited energy or brainspace for feeding themselves. It assumes nothing and has solid ideas for what to stock and simple preparations. www.tumblr.com/gement/72650...

We've been making upside-down cake with dried cranberries and grilled pineapple rings (grilled with a little butter and brown sugar).

Did your base cake have a simple vanilla+butter flavor, or do you use any spices? (A touch of cardamom might be interesting.)

This is why the Lord gave us incognito windows.
(Or do it on somebody else's machine, for an ongoing prank.)

Richard Saul Wurman is one of my Household Gods, a creator of Information Architecture. His pattern-seeking brain was revolutionary in the 1980s; his design skills add ease and value to his words and diagrams.

His explanations can help neurotypical folks get MUCH better at many important skills!
