Special education is the reason my 20-year-old son on the spectrum lives independently, is working, and functions like many young adults. The dollars invested in him during his early years had far more impact than supporting him as an adult. Short-sighted policies will do irreparable damage.

I have not received anything in my SSA messages box since January in spite of receiving several notices in the mail.

My 28-year-old son has been facing bouts of deep depression for this very reason. He has been struggling to save enough just to marry the woman he loves let alone purchase a home for their family. Derailed by a surgery and recovery, he feels so hopeless in this economy working full-time since 16.

They see me for 5 good minutes not the endless hours I spend in therapies unable to move. The judgment against people who are actually trying to eek some living out of a life with disabilities is torture. Who else gets judged for going to the beach or a concert?

So much this. Right now I live and travel full-time in my RV chasing weather that makes me more able. I lost my home in the waiting period for disability. I have a very short window to get to see the beauty of this country before I am no longer able. My RV has a number of accommodations…
