planetary gear arrays inside the main rotator assemblies, just because its a chance to have a little fun. they operate properly and provide a lot of glimpses of stuff happening inside which makes for a really good effect. otherwise theyre 100% redundant lol

ammo chute is pretty cool to find ways to handle, this is basically modeled as an array along a spline then converted to mesh and connected together to allow flexibility without deformed sections.

so how the hydraulics work, sorry the image isnt very legible. we have a basic locator each end and essentially a pair of damped tracks that always look at each other. but, we cant actually do that because it creates a recursion, so we have something like A and B at each end 1/?

the main wow factor and selling point of cain is his superganglion, an assortment of hoses and cables and you know all that stuff. mostly these are created as splines and converted to meshes for more work and weighting/rigging. the hoses are handled by simple oldschool gradient weights

heres what our boys have under the hood. its a fully IK driven setup with all points of articulation i was able to identify in the movie maquette, broadly red shapes are major movers, yellow are tweaks and grey are fully automated behind the scenes and mostly operate the hydraulics

uh rando double fairlie update/proof of life. i am aware it looks exactly the same but i swear i did stuff this is a 100% separate new model. yeah the general guesstimation was really close but is from spec now. finishing off running gear rn
