Live music, cool books, food experiments, new gadgets and fluffy cats make me happy. Mostly here to hide from Twitter/X. 😆
I threw a towel over my walking pad to hide it from potential cat claws. Now Natasha thinks it’s the best bed ever, and now I have no walking pad. 😆

Though I hate the reason for it, I do love seeing all my social media filled with David Lynch content. Such an amazing body of work. 🖤

One of the greatest small pleasures is the moka pot ASMR sound file you can download from Bialetti. I use it as a timer sound and get a kick out of it every time. themokasound.com

What’s the best way to dry a book that has been doused in water? I feel like the pages are going to fuse together if I don’t act quickly. Trying the blow dryer, and setting the books standing upright and fanned out in the sun. Fortunately, it seems to be just two books and not all the pages are wet.

FYI, if you ever need to split the last Yakult (WHY do those packs come in odd numbers?) it fits perfectly into two soju glasses or shot glasses.

Spotted a Common Grackle during a stroll in our neighborhood yesterday, and wish I could have snapped a pic of my own. (Not sure whose photo I borrowed from the Internet) The cool thing about this bird is that it looks totally black until it moves and transforms into this magical, iridescent being.

I love the weird sounds old radiators make, but one of ours sounds like it’s trying to connect to AOL. 😆

What’s everyone doing while Facebook, Instagram and Messenger are all down?

I’ve rediscovered my AeroPress, after running low on filters for my other brewing systems (Chemex, V60) and realizing I had a good supply of AP filters. So pleased with the results it produces! So convenient for making just one satisfying cup. ☕️❤️

I asked our Echo device to play music from the band Cousteau, and was treated to dramatic whale sounds. 😆🐋 (The next track was actually from Cousteau.)

A friend and I were browsing a Korean fashion site after discussing the fantastic sweaters that always seem to appear in Kdramas. We were amused by this pull-down menu of looks inspired by popular Korean actresses and…Steve Jobs? 😆

I’m feeling like the story about seals that I just read in Duolingo was specifically planned so they could say PHOQUE as many times as possible. Someone must have been making themselves laugh while designing that French lesson. 😆🦭

If you happen to have the British female voice selected on your Echo or other smart speaker, every announcement and reminder makes it feel like you’re in The Village. (Ah, if only Fenella Fielding were still alive!)

We finally watched “Cassandro” last night and found it entertaining and really uplifting. Love the symbolism of someone literally unmasking themself to lean into who they really are. Plus, El Hijo del Santo playing himself was a lot of fun to see. ❤️

Cheers to the New Year! Didn’t feel like buying champagne or digging out the flutes, so it was sparkling apple juice in whatever glasses were at the front of the cabinet. 😆

I’m not quite sure about Bluesky’s new logo…at least not at the moment. I get that it’s supposed to be a “social butterfly,” but is the platform really at the butterfly stage? Still feels like something in the chrysalis stage. 🦋🤔

Sparkly treasure from a local panadería. Love the heart in the center of this concha.

In an Odd Couple episode we watched last night, Felix surprised Oscar by repainting the living room in horrible “Flaming Peach.” It actually reminded me a lot of the 2024 Pantone Color of the Year, “Peach Fuzz.” Also, you should probably never “surprise” anyone by repainting. 🙄

I’m lucky to have awesome friends who send thoughtful care packages. (Natasha is impressed by the box and can’t wait for us to empty it out. 😸)

Our Echo (I refuse to call it Alexa) is playing The Surfrajettes’ cover of “Heart of Glass” and now I’m regretting missing them live. Next time!

I’ve been seeing people post on social media about a book exchange, in which you buy your favorite book, send it to a stranger, and supposedly get 38 books back. Er…isn’t this just like that chain letter postcard thing in grade school? Did anyone ever get 100s of postcards from around the world? 😆
